A new roof is an important investment, so choosing a reliable and trustworthy roofing contractor is essential to ensure its success. A quick online search reveals a lot of possible roofing contractors; find the right one by asking them the following questions.

Questions You Should Ask Before Hiring Roofing Contractors

Do You Have a Physical Address?

An actual brick-and-mortar location is your assurance that a roofing contractor is less likely to run out on you in case of problems or warranty claims. Local contractors are also more familiar with local ordinances and regulations and would already have a streamlined process for filing for permits. At DryTech Roofing, we are always glad to have clients drop by at our place in Aberdeen, MD.

Do You Have Insurance?

Insurance is something that every remodeling and building contractor should have. Ask the contractor if they have liability insurance and workers compensation. Liability insurance covers accidental property damage while workers’ compensation covers accidental injuries. Both protect you from liability in case either happens. We carry both, including up to $2 million liability coverage.

Do You Have a Contractor License?

The Maryland Home Improvement Commission requires all home improvement contractors and salespeople, including roofing contractors, to be licensed before they can operate. Note that a contractor license is different from a business license. Our updated license information is published on our website, which you can verify at your own convenience.

Do You Have Homeowner References?

One of the oldest and most reliable ways to see a contractor’s quality of work is by calling their past clients. A reputable contractor should be able to provide at least three references. We recommend calling them, and, if the opportunity allows, visit the premises and inspect the contractor’s work in person.

Does Your Warranty Include Workmanship Coverage?

In addition to the material warranty, your contractor should also offer workmanship warranties. It covers problems caused by installation errors, which is not offered by all roofing contractors. As a GAF Master Elite™ contractor, we are in a position to offer both, including GAF’s Golden Pledge® Limited Warranty. This top-of-the-line coverage includes up to 25 years of workmanship coverage.
